Actually, if we really want, we could say that old kai really seems to know everything (unlike his successor..)...he must know what SSG is so he makes Gohan to be as close to SSG form as possible (another ammo for ppl who thinks Gohan > SSJ 3 Goku)
But, Super sayian has become a symbol in DBZ...it just doesn't feel right the main character does not have gold hair
