Reread some of our recent discussions on Rewrite. John you made a really good point about the thing in Lucia's route that I was really caught up about
:
Spoiler for Rewrite:
"Of course, Lucia's SSS-class stubbornness was also a problem. Her stubborn nature caused her to continuously doubt Kotarou's feelings. So, she chose she easiest way out and gave up to the curse called "Asahi Haruka". Unable to get a satisfying answer from Kotarou, "Asahi Haruka" decides to cut all her ties with "Konohana Lucia" and killing Kotarou was, the person that meant to her most, was the easiest way. In the end, Kotarou is finally able to convey how much he needs Lucia's existence regardless of her situation."
Really good point about Haruka wanting to kill Kotarou to complete her "transformation". Still, I have my doubts, or rather, I think the writing was very poor in not conveying one thing or the other (or very good at being ambiguous. I hate ambiguity :P). At the himawari field by the park, I don't think it's arguable that she's gone "Haruka" mode yet, so she is still "Lucia" but she is willing to risk Kotarou dying from her poison. It's almost like she disregards him and doesn't care if he lives or dies at that point already. Like I said before too, the entire time that Lucia is fighting, she never seems to slip into full "Haruka" mode. (She doesn't finish off Shizuru or Chihaya, keeps talking about how much she appreciates Koutaro.) For her to want to kill Kotarou to swing at him, and then keep on struggling to kill him, I would think that Haruka would have to have taken over her mind completely. It seems that a lot of "Lucia" is still there which I guess is what bothers me most.
Trying to convince yourself that your favorite character just has a multiple personality disorder where one side is a psychopath sucks. But then on the other hands it sucks to try to convince yourself that your favorite character is completely cognitive of what she's doing and is a schizo. Such a great thing for the authors to be ambiguous about, I get to choose whether she's only trying to kill me because she's completely nuts, or that she's only half nuts but still trying to kill me. Isn't there a way so I can think of her in a better light? I think I'm going to re-read Rewrite soon.
I also caught myself sounding really ambiguous:
"It seems strange, the other classmates aren't so chummy with him anywhere else except after he goes unconscious after meeting Kagari again in Kotori's route. It's
no big deal though. There just seems to be a lot of strange things with this plot twist. Like if Guardian wiped his memory and put him back into middle school, etc, how come they wouldn't be keeping a stronger eye on him? They even let him join Gaia in other routes. Oh well, it's not like it makes a difference in the story or changes a view on an important point of the story if we can disprove or substantiate it. This is a really stupid thing to nitpick at, there are a dozen other things I'd rather discuss than this..."
Since I was the one who brought it up, that should really read: "This is a really stupid thing (for me) to nitpick at...", sorry if you took offense.

I took that as he was blaming the quake and the economy. No one was directly comparing sales of anime titles to galges. I brought up the sales of Oreimo pre and post quake and compared
only Oreimo sales to itself, to illustrate that males 18+ were not effected so badly by the quake that they would stop spending money on their hobbies. I said:

It's still the same demographic, are you trying to tell me Eroge/galge players are more stingy than Anime BD watchers after the quake?

How that was misconstrued to me directly comparing anime to galge sales, I don't know. I'm guessing people only read what I quote and not what I write.(I'm thinking I need to stop posting here.)
Back to the point at hand, are the Oreimo sales enough proof to say the quake didn't affect the sales? No. But it is enough proof to show that the quake isn't the only reason that sales are down IMO.
This whole thing was a misunderstanding though, as Klashikari later cleared up that he did believe there were other factors outside of the quake and economy that impacted sales and I had misread his initial post wrong. (In my defense though, I think it is as easy to misunderstand Klashikari's post as it is to understand mine if you read them in their entirety
.)
