The biggest issue I had with the story was the making schooling for kids compulsory. That should have caused huge ripples since in that kind of era kids of those ages would have all been working for their families as basically unpaid labor. But there was no problem whatsoever. Iris said do it and it was done.
I enjoy the story too but the author really simplifies over some topics way too much.
