Zero Rider used a sword, even though he wasn't a Saber. So did both Fate/Apocrypha Riders, one of which also used a spear. FSN Rider used a chain dagger, even though she wasn't an Assassin. "Fake" Rider in FSF arguably
is its own weapon. Pretty sure that all but the last were proficient in the bow in their original lives.
Like Assassin or Caster, Rider as a class doesn't have any kind of weapon requirement, unlike Saber, or Lancer, or even Archer for that matter (though the latter's requirement is vague enough that actual
archer Archers almost seem to be the exception).
