Still..a major plot hole that there was not one casualty. I would think that even in a scattered burst somebody would be really unlucky. I guess it was powerful enough to blow them to different parts of the island though  |
The target was the giant hole, so everyone on the edge managed to get away. Everyone in the hole was (rather inexplicably) transported to an entirely different island.
