suki translates to "like"
in alot of animes people translate it as "love" that is because say you were in an English speaking country and you wanted to tell a girl "i love you" if translated into Japanese it would be "watashi wa suki da yo" because the Japanese don't use their word for love very freely. Or so my Japanese language teacher told me.
