I think that your precise wording might be... a tad too stern (Homura-style, shall we say
), but I do see some validity, at least, to your interpretation here. Certainly Gen is arguing that there's at least a darker side to reality, and that
true hope requires confronting and overcoming that darker side. As Madoka did.
