Always tends to be just ONE guy all the girls like to fall for. At least throw in another guy for some differences.
Onegai Teacher was at least cool for that, a different guy than the main character actually got a girlfriend. Nice!

Most of what the U.S. learns history-wise depends on the locale of where you live in and what type of school. From what I've seen (through personal experience, since I've moved around). The closer you get to the more population-heavy areas, the higher the focus on a broader world history to encompass the variety of people. I was always disappointed we never went to deep into the Norse stuff though in my school :\
