Hanekawa was getting her ass handed to her by this Kai but then out of nowhere Araragi comes sword in hand (after 64 chapters or 38 depending on how you look at it) and stabs it right through its skull.

Also when Hanekawa confessed, he recognizes her love but politely rejected her. He then comforted her while she cried for the rest of the night.
