You should definately watch Kino no Tabi at the very least, if you haven't already. That show is very intellectual. Of course, it's licensed and hasn't been released yet in the US, so you might have to wait to your hands on it legally; but fansubs do exist up to episode 5 or so, and are still being made (by an evil communist fansub group, no doubt.)
