Well, depending on which film or series of Space Battleship Yamato, it could qualify.
In fact some say that with Yamato, it isn't a question of "who is going to die", but "who is going to survive". Again, depending on the season or film being viewed.
(We don't know if this will be the case with Space Battleship Yamato 2199 as of yet.)
