Until you add in the fact that the game is open PVP everywhere outside of the towns, and that you lose your life when you die. There are definite advantage to being in the top bracket.

Only the player-driven part of the economy would be affected by inflation. As SAO's economic system was never explained, there's no way to know for sure.
