heres a reuninion sample of what I think would have worked as in a sense less dramatic
Spoiler for Fan Fic, still dramatic but in a sense less cheesy the running down the school hall and then find your gf/faince in a closet...:
"The bell rings, another long day has come to an end. The phone vibrates, I flip it open, it reads "taiga ..." my heart skips a bit, I see the those words and my mind melts, I can feel the blood rush to my cheeks, and in an attempt to hide my heavy blushing from those that are still left in the class I pretend to fumble for something in my backpack. A hand touches my shoulder, I imagine it's taiga's small hand but suddenly the voice awakes me from my sweet dream, its kitamura, seems like everybody has already left. And so the long walk home begins. Everyday this walks seems to get longer and longer, those days with Taiga were truly special huh. I comment to myself. Finally I get home the stairs seem to get higher and higher, each footstep seems heavier. Finally I reach the door, I turn the knob and open it expecting to see taiga, but its empty like the everyday since then. I let out a whimper "tadaima" and same as usual no answer. I set my shoes down and make my way to inko chan's cage, my little companion must miss taiga as much as I do, maybe she had mistaken her words? My phone vibrates in my pants, I pull it out, and its from Taiga, my heart skips another beat, my hands lose their sensation, and I drop the phone, and it vibrates against the floor, I pick up and answer, almost desperately calling out "TAIGA" I don't hear the door open behind me, the other side is nothing, suddenly I hear it, "tadaima" is it me or is my brain playing tricks on me? how can it sound so close... finally she says "ryuuji, baka, turn around" My head slowly swivels around, her hair, her eyes seem bright, I stumble to get up almost crawling towards her, I lunge and grasp her, it really is her, not just a dream, seems like shes smiling as i embrace her. all i can muster is "Okaeri."
