Yes, yes. Your point? Mothers day isn't a scam. I believe it was derived from 'Mothering Sunday' which I doubt had anything to do with advertising.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure the original intention of Valentines day was in rememberance/homage of the various St.Valentines in the past...
