Since this is the general discussion and the other threads on the series appear to be closed, I'll post my thoughts about the series here.
Just finished it after watching M Zero.
I give this series a 10.
It was excellent IMHO.
I like how it gave shout-outs to the original Macross (Alto saving Ranka with the VF-25), the Minnmay references, etc.
I like how it tied into Macross Zero, Plus, and to a lesser extent M-7 (though it has been a long time since I've seen 7, so I may have missed a few things here).
I like the love triangle.
I lean towards Sheryl and Alto being a thing, though it seemed to be left open at the end of the series.
I haven't seen the movies yet so please don't spoil it for me if Alto chooses one or the other.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the mecha.
Kawamori and Miyatake have always been favorite mecha designers of mine.
Songs were excellent, which is to be expected from Yoko Kanno (love her work).
What can I say, there's nothing negative I can find in the show.
A few cheesey points, but that's just Macross' comedic side and was fun.
