Let me elaborate

Spoiler for speculation time:

We know that Junko is behind the murder game that occured at the student council, leading to Kibougamine most despair inducing disaster. Kibougamine top brass tried to cover that incident but the reserve students started a riot due to Junko once again... then we got the mass suicide which was one of the major triggers for the Most despair inducing tragedy of humanity.

Now here is the catch: how did Junko manage to spread despair in such large scale among the students in a such short span?

I'm suspecting that she guided Ryouta when he was still struggling with his anime, and either 1) brainwashed him to tweak it 2) made changes behind his back.
If we assume that Ryouta's anime is the reason for the Student riot then mass suicide, it would explain how she did that and why Ryouta feels so guilty in future arc.

In summary Ryota like Tim Marco from FMA he is not mastermind nor attacker but he someone who being victim to Junko and despair to did dirty job for them.
That to be said Ryota affiliation most likely with Monaka, yes he is traitor but he might not entirely bad if Ryota following Tim Marco route then he is a neutral card that will join Naegi side.
I hope Ryota will become good guy till the end, aside my symphaty to his past a lot future new casts has reduced either being killed or their characters degenerated like Juuzo, Ruruka and Munakata and some of them highly suspicious like scoutman.
It's not fun if only returned casts who will survive to the endm please don't kill all future arc new casts Kodaka!
