Kanpani and Kancolle are pretty much completely different.
Kanpani gameplay is a spin on traditional RPG trinity: healer-tank-DD and gear-depending.
Kancolle meanwhile was a bit of spin on old Trading Card Games. Where it's more important to a) prepare your 'deck' before the battle (which ships to use - which equipment components - and what tactic you plan to employ), b) manage your resources ("smaller unit" require less resources and weaker, but easier to deploy and may have massive payback), c) much more heavily depend on RNG as you can defeat most things with the starting (leveled and remodeled) units but will require a lots of luck
