One of my greatest appreciations for anime is the sheer aesthetics of it. It's nice to see female character that actually wear feminine form-flattering clothes. Haruhi has one of the prettiest clothes ensembles I've ever seen a character have.

I don't disagree with you. I like the look of a saylor fuku too (I like all japanese uniform styles, actually). However, a japanese girl wouldn't like to have to wear it, so the 'ridiculous'.
Also, the very idea of having a weird uniform is bad by itself to me. While I like the look, I wouldn't like having to wear then (most uniform here where I live are just a T-shirt and any color-coded shorts/trousands).
