So uh, maybe I’ll bite.
Let’s take a look at Touma. Nice guy, dangerous trigger to anger, still seems fairly normal even with all of the emotional baggage (and his own words of his magic being alright, chapter 3), so yeah, time to go over with a fine tooth comb (too much boredom! Bad project!)
Spoiler for Blah Blah Blah:
I checked both wikis about the Unlock spell that Touma uses in chapter 1, and came up with: Supportive magic, inexperienced mages will take minutes or hours to find complicated access protocols; Touma opened that door in a few seconds. According to Agito, he didn’t set off any of the alarms in place against unauthorized users. And snuck by all of the guards.
Huh.
Of course, there’s also the issue of how Touma was able to hear Lily when absolutely no one else did there, and the compatibility factor that he has with the Eclipse, being a Zero Driver and all that.
Let’s put that aside for a second, and look at what we know about his life.
During his time in the mines of Vaizen, he admits that he remembers very little about the town. Back even then, he was an orphan, the TSAB was never able to find anyone related to him after he met Subaru, it might not even be known where exactly he was born.
There’s also that he was tough enough as an 8 year old to survive by himself all of winter on Vaizen with just a knife, and before by pulling a heavy cart everywhere for a living. For an unaided human, that would count as pretty damn tough for an adult, let alone a child.
Sneaking skills, survival skills, fine tune control with magic, able to smell gunpowder and blood from a distance (chapter 3, and whut?), unexplained affinity with homicidal virus. So?
[tinfoilhat]Touma is a former child soldier, just like Raiden, finally given a mind scrub by the giant conspiracy like Raiden, and sent off to some backwoods village in the middle of nowhere to live out his life until it was time to use him like Raiden. And it’s not like the Nakajimas ever had to do anything like teaching him how to use a blade, or a blade on a gun, or a gun, because the context and setting might be gone, but the reflexes are still dormant in his heart, slowly waking up and out from being rusty. And the Eclipse Virus really likes those people who have it in themselves to be able to slit throats with nary a feeling.[/tinfoilhat]
For added hilarity, Steed is actually classified as an Intelligent Device, albeit not-combat oriented. And like Raiden, Touma has the most talkative AI in existence always by his ear.
Now, question: Is there any reason why the theory thread that we already have is not suited to this, and in fact should have it instead of this thread?
EDIT:
Quote:
To those who can understand the yet-to-be-translated chapters, did Mobile Section 6 perform any after action review after their messy battle? Properly analyzing what happened, why it happened, how it can be done better - all the basics?

Rapid response: It's quickly glossed over. Vita is watching all kinds of videos in the infirmary, Hayate has been spending time doing it, Fate has been filing reports, but there has been nothing particularly specific about it, and I doubt there ever will be unless flashback in the middle of a fight.
More detailed discussion should probably go in the Military Decisions thread on page 2, I suppose.
