Oddly enough, I'm a straight girl and yet I tend to prefer het romances and yuri romances to yaoi romances.

I don't really know why. I think, for one thing, it's because in general yaoi is fangirled so badly to the point that all it takes is for two guys to look at each other and suddenly the fandom thinks they're an item, which tends to be less of the case with a het pairing or a yuri pairing.

That and pretty much any yaoi I watch these days tends to end with the characters between the sheets, which isn't really the kind of thing I enjoy watching. x__x I don't mind reading it so much, but I dislike seeing it animated. It's just... it feels weird to me.

And with yuri pairings, the fun for me is the subtext. Nothing is ever really fully stated in a yuri at least until the very end, and it's fun to go along with it. I'm not saying that yaoi doesn't have subtext, but in general it tends to be more direct than yuri does.
