I don't know if the in-game marriage means more or less than a RL one.
On the one hand, the fact that it's just a game means that society at large won't see it as quite as binding as a real marriage. And the material commitment is less - no expensive ceremony, no shared real estate investment except for stuff that they plan on leaving behind when they exit the game...
On the other, as they said in Murder Case, it's a sign of great trust in a dangerous world.
