The anime should be 24 episodes long so it can fit 5 volumes. Ending in volume 3(12 episode) will give a weak ending I think. Though ending in volume 5 would make more sense and volume 5 also ended very touching.

Personally, i think the ending for anime in vol 5 is quite good but even 24 episode is a little bit tight for 5 volumes, it certainly possible in 24 ep but i think about 26 ep is a better idea
