It's more clear in A-team's translation: The doc was apparently the one who originally had Sosul imprisoned, with Sosul's unique condition being the doc's reason for doing so (which in turn led to the Sunwoo clan becoming splintered). No wonder Kwon'd rather take the hostile approach here; the situation is literally repeating itself, with the guy who was involved last time being involved this time as well, but now he has the chance to prevent it from happening...
