Little confused why everyone is saying the IBN is gone. I though they needed it to send dmail? If not what was the whole point of getting it in the first place. If they showed it missing then i must have missed that shot.

From what we've seen so far, the IBN is used to crack SERN's code. To time travel, all you really need is a microwave apparently (maybe a cell phone too). It doesn't matter for Okarin--he retains his original memories anyway...but for everyone else....
