Well initially she just does it so he can't say she's abandoning him like he accuses. At some point, Tabane confronts Chifuyu if she is using the OC as a crutch. Also, Tabane is really evil here.
I'm kind of troubled by OC's relation with Houki since there is no connection between them whatsoever. Houki is a lot more violent and the OC probably just hangs around her a lot because she keeps everyone away. The OC has to choose between uncomfortable 20 questions with a hundred or so girls, or face the raging Houki. He chooses the latter, mostly because he doesn't figure out that the places that are good to be alone are good to be alone in because Houki is there. Would that work?
