As someone else said before, normal people have high expectations of these fighters- this is the only way to control them.
These normal people have no way to control these fighters, so the only thing they can do is to instill the thought of honors and principles into these fighters.
Layfon used his superior power to commit an serious crime. This undermines the whole system of control. If Layfon, one of the top fighter, gets away with his deeds, other fighters will follow in his footsteps. That's why the people got scared and [the queen] banished him.
Finally, Grendan should be rich...but they are not. Because the electric fairy of Grendan has a suicidal tendency (not really, but acts like one), Grendan literally runs into monsters. They have battles with monsters almost every day.
The repair cost far surpasses any monetary profit Grendan can make.

Every time I read something like this, I just cant help but feel sorry for Layfon... I mean this is what happens when your pushed too the limit, also believe me I dont feel sorry for the person who he tried too kill, because he was pushing his luck and trying to control a Heavens blade.
