To me, I've felt that the better aproach is to summarize the "Let's separate everyone" portion to as a prologue to the OAV series (although I'd keep the Yue storyline as a separate OAV) and instead have the first OAV focus on Negi and his group facing Fate, his Ministra Magi, and Tsukuyomi.
