I think the biggest problem was that they had to complete the series in just 1-cour. As a result, they went through the manual of needed events, but everything in-between to build up to those points were left out.
As a result, it really felt lacking.
For instance, there is no way they could have trusted Kiyoi with everything. How could they trust her so much? Just because she was gathering them all together?
Also, another problem is that there are even less rules in this cour than the previous. Up to a point, you can say, "sure", but it doesn't make it any more interesting.
But putting all of that aside. I don't care as much about those parts.
The biggest disappointment to me was despite being the grand finale, there really wasn't as much character interaction between the different series than I had hoped. Again, a problem with the 1-cour thing, but there was just no time to insert any daily life or anything to get to know the characters. The two big baddies in particular suffer here, but I think very few of the characters this cour really had the chance to appeal themselves.
Except Nanashi and Remember.
Heck, even Remember disappears from the screen after her little arc, despite her being right next to Kiyoi the entire time. At least let her have one line on being owned by Kiyoi?
I would say that this cour was more worth it for the following reasons
1. You get to see the 1st season characters in more adult character designs
2. We get to see what happens to Remember after Peeping Analyze
3. And the ending itself is sweet.
...Even if the ending is one of the biggest "Screw logic, I want a happy end" I have seen since... what, the
spirit convention?
Oh, and uh... I think Remember is still kinda... you know, insane? Can we just leave her alone like that?
Anyways, 7/10.
I know that most of the card anime that did so kinda all died, but I'd like episodes where the characters kinda just have fun with each other. Some character development, you know?!
