Here's an idea, Runty.
Spoiler for fanfic idea:
It starts off right after Audrey asked Baldren if he'd like to accompany her on a Fox hunt. With a small hunting party they head off to either the Kloden Wildwoods or the Leanbluff woods in search of this rare Fox breed.
Once it's located they give chase, but it darts off into a section of the woods that is either said to be haunted or cursed and none of the soldiers accompanying them want to go ahead. But Baldren, fearless as he is, doesn't believe in ghost stories and Audrey, with her strong sense of faith assures them that they'll be alright.
They then enter the forests to try and locate the fox again, eventually splitting up into small groups and spread out to widen the search area. BUT slowly, one by one, the soldiers begin disappearing. Sometimes the others only arrive too late to find only a helmet, rifle or something left in place of where the soldier disappeared. Or they hear a scream or some other loud ruckus and again, arrive too late to help.
As it winds down to only Baldren and Audrey left, they begin to realize that maybe there really is a ghost or demon that haunted these woods. It ends with either Audrey or Baldren been pounced upon by this 'Ghost' and it really turns out to be none other than Marina Wulfstan aka "The Ghost of Gallia." So it turns out there really was a 'Ghost' inhabiting these forests.
And she's angry that not only are other people invading her forests where she seeks solitude from others and the war, BUT that they're hunting HER pet Fox. It works because Marinas ending profile said that she found a wounded fox, treated it and now lives with it.
But, Marina lets them go, and their soldiers, whom she only captured, but didn't kill. With a warning that they stay out of her forest, never hunt her pet fox again and to just leave her be. She doesn't really care about the war, just her own little world, that forest. And so long as they stay away, no further harm will come to them.
It also works for her in the way that they'll probably spread the story of encountering a real life ghost in the 'Haunted' or 'Cursed' section of the woods. Which helps Marina even more because now even more people will probably want to stay away from her section of the forest.
So... what do ya think? I think you should write it, you write Marina better than anyone else. You stay true to her character and such.
