Kaworu's appearance was hilarious for me too. The theater subs had his lines as "I'll be the only one to make you happy" or "I'll make you happy this time", prompting someone behind me to call out f***ing gay.
And I always thought the reason why they were labeled children instead of child was due to engrish since iirc the manga corrected the term to child.
