A chime on his console alerted him of an incoming hail from one of the vessels. Within a second, a communications channel was opened up. “This is the TSAB Vessel Arete. Please identify yourself and explain your purpose.”
“This is the TSAB Shuttlecraft Tyche. I am currently on course to Mid-Childa. My mission is to transport Yuuno Scrya to the care of Special Duty Section Six.”
There was a brief pause before the other end responded. “It’ll be more efficient if we transported you back to the home world. We’ll open the shuttle bay doors open so you can dock.”
“Acknowledged.” Moments later, he found himself first making a report to the ship’s captain on the events that had occurred and then escorted to the infirmary for a full medical checkup, even though he didn’t have any direct contact with the Materials.
Considering that they were travelling on an L-Class vessel, he would have expected more medical staff on board but there was only the chief medical officer on duty with no staff. “You all alone, Doc?”
“Considering that this ship is heading back to the home world while the rest of the fleet is going into potentially dangerous territory, we felt it would be best if my staff were temporarily stationed on other ships.”
“That’s sensible,” came the quiet reply before he spotted the only patient in the room, strapped to an examination station. “So how’s that Library guy doing?”
“Let’s see here.” The doctor took out his storage device and had it change into a scanning instrument before he ran it over Yuuno’s forehead. “Looks like he took a nasty blow to the head. I wouldn’t be surprised if he shows signs of a concussion when he wakes up. I would have thought that there would be more signs of injury though considering how long he stayed with those criminal mages. Instead, the worst treatment he gets from them is apparently some light head trauma.”
But even still, having such injuries would make it harder to do a proper diagnosis. How would someone be able to tell between brain cells that have been affected by the injury and brain cells that have been affected by this supposed brainwashing? One thing for sure is that he was glad it was Shamal, the Chief Medical Officer of the Special Duty Section Six, who would have to tackle that riddle and not him.
“… actually, it was the dragon that knocked him out. With a head butt if I recall correctly. It was a little funny.”
The young male doctor raised an eyebrow upon hearing what the shuttle pilot had said before resuming his scans on the unconscious Yuuno. “Any proof?”
“I would have had the security footage if I didn’t have to shut off the cameras when landing the ship on the planet. It’s already all in my report and I figure that when those kids make it out, they can confirm what I said.” He paused when he remembered about those two. “I feel pretty rotten for just leaving them there and letting them try that weird undercover idea of theirs. Is there a plan in place to help them out?”
“From what I know, the rest of the fleet will be carrying out an operation. The immediate objective would be to get our people off the planet along with the civilians. Once that’s completed, the fleet will commence bombardment from orbit to pin down the enemy while the Elsior will power up their Arc-en-ciel to finish things off. Sounds simple enough but executing the plan smoothly is another matter. And who knows how much interference will be created by the enemy. That’s going to create a lot of work for my staff…”
With that said, the doctor took a moment to administer a small sedative to keep the patient unconscious and to preserve his physical state so that Shamal could perform her examination later. He would also need to prepare a report to give her an idea of what she should expect.
“It would be a lot easier if we could just talk some sense into those criminals. Get them to stand down,” mumbled the other man as he leaned against the wall. “All of this is just a big powder keg waiting to blow.”
“Indeed.”

There was a final beep before the system shut down, having accepted the access code, and allowed the doors to open.
Sheesh, that took long enough.
‘Please connect with Yuuno Scrya and inform him of our progress,’ requested Sette.
Hmmm… about that, there’s a bit of a problem. I can’t seem to connect to his communication device because he’s out of range.
‘Out of range?’
As in off planet. Probably several light years away from our current position.
‘How is that…?’ She quickly realized that it must have been that vessel that she detected landing on the planet earlier. But it was rather strange how that event had unfolded. If he had went willingly, he should have informed someone. That’s the type of character he is based on her observations of his actions back at the Alpine household. There was also the possibility that he had been kidnapped but he seemed competent enough to be able to defend himself against such actions. Something is not adding up and she needed to find the missing link before the Materials got wind of this.
A sudden shift in wind caused by something flying by at high speed interrupted her train of thought. She managed to spot where it came from but it was moving quickly. She couldn’t tell for sure what it is but she did spot someone with long purple hair riding on top of that flying beast, whatever it was. Obviously, it was one of the Alpines… but which one? And why was she in such a hurry?
Well, now… looks like the game’s afoot!

I idly wonder how they would react to Yuuno's mind control being a love spell to get laid?
