Well, I'd say basically all Magicians are dangerous walking weapons.

In the novel, the law aggresively limit where and when Magicians can use Magic. The penalty for failing to comply with these restrictions are quite severe.
(Most crime involving the use of Magic are treated as felonies, which practically guarantees jail time even for minors)

Since the law enforcement organization has to deal with criminals who use Magic, it also employs Magicians for the service.

Spoiler for About Miyuki:

She knows what Yotsuba (and his father in FLT) did, are and continuously doing to him.

She just pretends that she doesn't know because Tatsuya thinks she doesn't know it yet.
(It is all mentioned in either Vol.01 or 02, a scene about inner dialogue while she was in alone in her room.)


Miyuki's an all-around Magician with superior abilities in all categories, but she is particularly good at cooling Magic (Magic that involves freezing stuffs).

That's because her unique Magic is Cocytus, a Ex-System Magic that freezes target's mind shut (Apparently there is no method of reviving the victim).

Actually, Yotsuba family (or rather, Maya, the head of the family) is quite confident about Miyuki staying loyal to them.

Maya is mainly worried that Tatsuya would turn into their enemy, but she also thinks that making Miyuki the next head of Yotsuba (Miyuki is currently the most likely candidates for next head of Yotsuba anyway) would eliminate the the threat from Tatsuya because he will never betray Miyuki in any kind of situation.

Spoiler for The reasong for Miyuki's lack of control over her Magic:

The reason for this is revealed in Arc.03.

Most of Tatsuya's real power is surpressed with a seal placed by Yotsuba.

Miyuki usually shows lack of control for her Magic (Magic spontaneously activating when she is emotionally upset) because half of her total capability to control her Magic is continuously used to surpress Tatsuya's power.

She is capable of releasing the seal (although it is mentioned in the novel that she doesn't have authority to do that).

While the seal is released, Tatsuya can use his true power and Miyuki also regains her capability to control her Magic.
