I just realized something...

When I encountered "思念体" in Fate's story path (appeared in Stage 2, the battle against Dark Piece Hayate), I translated it as "mind and body".

But it appeared again later, in Fate's first encounter with a Material. There, "思念体" was treated as a common noun for the Dark Pieces. In addition, the Japanese for Material was "構築体", so "思念体" is probably meant to have some sort of... opposite? Comparison? Parallelism? to the term "Material".

"思念" means "thought". Possible translations for "体" include "body", "substance", "object", and "being". A quick glance through Google for the entire term returns "Thought Entity" (make three guesses which Light Novel/Anime that came from <<; ). So... what should it be translated to?
