If nothing else, it was worth it to see Naru
finally have her behavior totally backfire.
As for the rest, the best way to sum it up is "Dafuq did I just watch?" Way to crap all over the happy ending there. At this point the timeline is so bonkers it would make the Doctor blush.
Spoiler for Ow my head:
Naru suddenly turns on Pied Piper and shoots them down because they can't win, then tries to take Truth's power for herself (or for the Scub, whatever). The hell? You couldn't have done that when he wasn't a total goddamn psychopath? At least she got shot down for being an idiot.
Truth steals the Quartz Gun and shoots himself. At least this is consistent with his behavior back when Ao first found the thing. He gets his wish, finally. Then Ao shoots Naru down again for good measure, because really, she can just die at this point.
Renton's back and destroying the Scub. I have to give some credit here. It may take a while to get him to spit it out, but at least he has a logical reason for doing so. The Scub going all crazy as depicted is another thing, but I can at least believe his desire to fix what he broke.
So Truth is an Archetype now? Yeah, sure, we'll just go with that.
So the Scub decides to do that whole "work towards coexistence" thing by spreading all across different universes, then retreating back in time when the Secrets mess that up. Right. That was just weird.
And finally we come to the end. Ao tells causality to suck it, transports himself back to when his mom disappeared and goes in her place. Then he bounces around time for awhile and arrives back two years later where history is probably completely different. Cue credits to avoid any meaningful closure.
And rolling back, why bother showing Fleur getting the Third Engine working if it didn't do crap? Way to waste an obvious plot device.
I've been pretty forgiving about this series, but damn, this was too much.
