If we are to believe they touched evidence directly with their hands instead of forensic tweezers, then a bare hand is better than gloves. Granted, we don't directly touch evidence nowadays, but in that particular scenario, directly touching with gloves would smudge possible fingerprints that they could use. If you leave your prints on it, then both would clearly show up on the test and yours could be removed.
