While I did enjoy the series the first time I watched it, I enjoyed my second viewing even more. Maybe that works for you as well?
Anyway, like I said, I really enjoyed this series; a perfect balance between cute, comedy, drama and pantsu. Too bad they didn't make Konami more like she was in the game, though.

I doubt it; while I do think that the boy at the end is a younger version of Chris, the main character of the game, as they both have grey hair, a similar haircut and golden eyes, I don't think it's possible for the anime to be the prequel to the game. There's no mentioning of any 'traveling' what so ever and both Nono and Konami live in the same world. Besides, at the beginning of the game, Mai hasn't met Konami yet.
The relationship between the game and the anime is probably similar to that of Tenchi Muyou! Ryououki and Tenchi Muyou! TV.
