Chapter 117: Origin of the Nicknames
This chapter is about the backgrounds of Roxanne and Cassandra.
Roxanne originally started out as No.35
She first began to emulate the sword style of No.31, who would make use of the guard and the hilt of the claymore to compensate for lack of speed. Though this style was looked down upon by other warriors, Roxanne idolized No.31 and they became close friends. One day, Roxanne realized she had surpassed No.31 and the crude sword style became abhorrent to her eyes. Soon after, No.31 died during an AB hunt when Roxanne had risen to No.24.
Roxanne's next idol was No.9 who practiced a style reliant on yoki sensing because her depth perception was limited (her right eye was lost). On Roxanne's first AB hunt under No.9, she lost her right eye. She began to copy No.9's technique and the two became close friends who were often teamed together on AB hunts. No.9 died on an AB hunt when Roxanne's abilities began to rival hers. What was surprising was that the AB was just a low ranking warrior. Even more surprising, Roxanne reveals her eye to be fully healed immediately after No.9's death...
At the time when Roxanne became No.5, No.1 was Cassandra. One of the few left-handed warriors, Cassandra was reputed to be far beyond the No.2 at the time. No one knew how Cassandra fought because she always hunted alone and the AB corpses were shredded to pieces.
Roxanne befriended Cassandra who was greatly flattered because all other warriors kept a respectful distance and never approached her. Cassandra blushed when Roxanne indicated she started using a left-handed style as a fan. However, no matter how friendly they got, Cassandra never agreed to take Roxanne on an AB hunt.
It turns out Roxanne had always had an exceptional ability in youki synchronization which allowed her to learn other warrior's techniques with ease. She also developed a unique skill which allowed her to erase her own youki presence to a specific target. At last, she was able to follow unseen and witness Cassandra's mysterious technique...
Back to the present, Cassandra unleashes her technique and cuts down Rachel, Nina and Audrey. It turns out Cassandra's secret technique is an extremely low stance which targets the enemies' legs.
"Dust Eater, isn't that such a fitting name I came up with?" comments Roxanne.
