I still think Cruz made the best decision, they were going no where fast, he knew he had wait for the right moment for Blade to counter attack but he couldn't let Eve get killed. Also thinking back Imai gave us a pretty good hint in the Needless 0 chapters. During the Riru one, Riru mentions multiple times that she was created to serve god.

Yamada did fine imo, but I think it would've been better for Blade to make Riru his target instead of the cocoon and loop a thread around her neck or simply use a "power"-punch on her.
