It's not like fiction has a particularly high standard for depicting realistic durations of romance and stuff.
"True Love" and all that jazz. At least he had those 6 months, as opposed to the 90 minutes a protagonist might get in a Disney movie or something.
Personally I found it a rather refreshing change of pace that the romance came to a conclusion early, rather than 26 episodes of "Will They Or Won't they" (When the answer is so incredibly obvious) before one lousy kiss scene at the climax.
