Speaking of the geass eye... The geass changes as he uses it. It's interesting now it's back to the starting point.

well, I'd say the only time it was an active choice to change the animation to show that the geass was changing was in the early part of 22, when he orderd the bodyguard to leave and then tried to kill the noble.
The other times are either because different animators were responsible that week (you know that whole thing about something like half of 9 being redrawn for the DVD since the style was off), or the scene wasn't quite the same situation (like how they planned that entire shot with shirley and Lelouch in 14 with it panning across his face, or how they zoomed up on Lelouch when used it against mao in 16).
I mean even after it went perma, in 25, they used the same animation that appears in the commercial when he geassed Cornelia.
