Hell, when you think about it... Aleister must have had known the way natural Esper's (Gemstone's) work in order to create artificial Espers. Gemstone on whom research started and the first Esper... do we know anything about them anyway?

You might be on to something there. If I remember correctly (can't remember where or who said it) magic was created by people jealous of the gemstones' powers.
I think it's possible that Aleister, in his greed for higher magical knowledge, captured gemstones in order to study them, and then, by placing several of the together, the accidental AIM combination could have been enough for Aiwass' voice to present itself to Aleister.
Thus, with Aiwass guidance, Aleister would have learned how to create artificial espers and formed the plan we don't know about at that moment.
So the basic difference between what Aleister and the foreign researchers on SS2 did would have been that the latter tried studying them separately, so they probably would have never gotten the necessary insight about the esper technology, even if the gemstones hadn't been rescued.
So, how's that theory?
