Kumi and Ippo "hooking up" per se is seemingly doomed from the start, considering that the author made Kumi
Mashiba's little sister. Even if Ippo weren't such a dweeb expressing his feelings to Kumi, he would still have the
huuugggee obstacle in Mashiba to overcome in order to "legitimize" his and Kumi's relationship...and we all know how Mashiba reacts to anyone who even harms a hair on his little sister (aka Sawamura)! hehe
