Episode XLII: Sign of a Counterattack
I begin to see a speck of light as to which direction the show is now turning to.
Spoiler:
But nothing seems to be on the surface.
To start with, it's frustrating to experience the same feeling of hopelessness and powerlessness that are good fellas of the Mustang corps and Al's party do.
Sloth lastly has dug the full tunnel, and only remains for Father to wait for a day to come to let Hell all loose upon Amestris, as it did with Xerxes before.
However, there were quite a things that more or less brought a smile upon my face.
For starters, it was a clever move and guessing, first by Mei and then by Al, to rearrange the order of the research papers connecting those with words "Gold", "Immortality", and "Perfect Being" one to each other
and then flip the pages to the back so as to reveal another hint left by Scar's brother.
The transmutation circle that combines Amestrian alchemy with Xingese alchemy.
This has to be a clue and maybe plot device that hopes to contribute at thwarting Father's master plan or maybe to serve another purpose, whether be for good or bad.
Secondly, Hohenheim's first meeting with Pride delivered on me quite a good chill, and it was good to feel that way as Hohenheim navigated that dark and enclosed tunnel passageway to check for himself the fruit of Father's
mischievousness and its kids.
An interesting topic of conversation that Hohenheim brought up to Pride was how the 7 Deadly Sins of humanity parallel in correspondence to each facets of Father's personality, that Hohenheim deduced that bearded freak cast out of its
body in the form of its homunculus offspring.
Now, we had a change of plans for Kimblee to turn Briggs into a bloody mess by using the Drachman army as means for a war breakout; not surprising, since that's the only place left on the map remaining unsullied and unstained that Father
needs to soil to fulfill the transmutation circle, and, btw, things did not look well for Alphonse's party, because the chimera Zampano seemed to have betrayed them all; the preview for next episode looked like corroborating this.
