I'd say make a female so you can stare at her butt wiggle while you run around for thousands of hours, but Guardians tend to have armor that consists of armored robes, thus covering said butt...so there goes most of the reason for playing a female character.
Save your female characters for the classes that get to wear tight fitting pants.
Of course, you could put the extra effort later on in the game to get yourself some Sith Warrior pants. They have a number of tight fitting ones that look good on females. I'd steer clear of the Bounty Hunter and Republic Trooper. Their pants tend to be heavily armored.
Cover is something you just have to get used to. That said, I agree. Operative all the way. Marauders/Sentinels and Snipers/Gunslingers get shafted imo. Being the 25% that have only one role kind of sucks.
