Form 1: Infection Form
The smallest and most numerous of the Spawn forms encountered. An Infection form is about the size of a slightly oversized chihuahua, complemented by a thin carapace and gnashing teeth, along with those two massive scythes it has for dorsal arms.
All Spawn forms have a resiliency to magic, and the Infection Form is no different. An Infection form has been observed to take C-rank spells with surprising effectiveness considering its size, and some Infection Forms have been observed taking an A-rank spell's damage and somehow surviving. However, like all Spawn, they show a weakness to physical and mass-based attacks; even a single round from an MA5C will kill an Infection Form.
The Infection Form is so named for its ability to produce viscous green biomass from its mouth and scythes, which can infect and mutate people, zombifying them into what are called
Human Combat Forms.. Coupled with their own ability to infect people using their bodies, further enhancing their abilities than simple infection.
Form 2: Human Combat Form
Usually encountered where there are Infection Forms, the Human Combat Form is a much more formidable adversary than the standard Infection Form. Human Combat Forms usually resemble whoever it is they used to be, though usually the Spawn has no regard for the human body and modifies it to its will.
Like the Infection Form, the Human Combat Form has a surprising resiliency to magic, able to withstand a B-rank Spell easily, though like the Infection Form they occasionally show a heavy resistance to higher-ranked spells. Their primarily weak to mass-based weapons; usually ones that have a high or heavy burst output. The Battle Rifles can take them out from a distance given time, but the Sniper Rifle is so powerful it simply blows through the Combat Form without really harming it. The Submachine Guns, Assault Rifles are very effective against the Human Combat Form, but the Shotgun is the best, almost always literally blowing apart the Human Combat Form.
Some Human Combat Forms are truly frightening; some are able to wield Storage Devices as clubs, but others have shown enough control to actually
cast spells. How they manage this is unknown at the time, but frightening nontheless.
Form 3: Unknown Combat Form
A far less encountered but much more dangerous Combat Form, the UCF is a monster to behold. Standing a full 3 meters tall, the Unknown Form seems to be based off of some monster from times long ago, and only show up when in areas with heavy Infestation. The Combat form is extremely powerful, and a single swipe with its bladed hand can overturn a Warthog.
The magic resiliency for the Unknown form is very high, able to withstand a B-rank spell several times before capitulating. Their sheer mass makes it difficult for mass-based weapons to harm them, though it also makes them heavily vulnerable to Sniper Rifles. Sustained bursts or two shots from a Shotgun are sufficient in downing one.
Other than that, the Unknown Form has no real strengths.
Form 4: Carrier Form
A peculiar creature, usually created when a Combat Form is too damaged for battle. Standing at 2 meters tall and obviously very wide, the Carrier Form is known for running into battle, exploding, and releasing up to five Infection Forms. Resiliency is weak to everything. Just don't stand within 5 meters when the thing explodes.
Form 5: Hydralisk Form
A rarely encountered form (fortunately), the Hydralisk form is an extremely deadly variant of Spawn encountered in nests and biomass cores. The Hydralisk is a huge monster, two and a half-meters tall and weighing up to two-hundred kilograms. Its primary weapons are its scythe-arms and hundreds of poisonous spines it can hydraulically fire.
Resiliency is heavy. The Hydralisk has been observed to tank up to AA-rank spells easily, and one Hydralisk was reported to have tanked an S-rank spell, though this is unconfirmed. On the mass-based side, it is recommended to use Battle Rifles and Sniper rifles to engage the Hydralisk, as their range makes it unable to strike you with its scythe-arms. If you must engage in melee, use the Shotgun and aim for the head.
Perhaps its most deadly ability is its intelligence. Hydralisks are the coordinators of the Spawn, and have been observed directing units into battle (see Ariadne).
Form 6: Ultralisk Form
The most frightening Spawn Form to date. The Ultralisk is a massive walking behemoth at least the size of a Scorpion tank, though massive beasts twice the size have been observed. Their primary weapon are two large blades on their tusks.
Fortunately the most rare of forms to date, the Ultralisk is truly a tank. Nothing short of space-bound beam cannons are believed to harm it when it comes to magic, and only sustained fire from a Scorpion's main cannon can injure an Ultralisk. The last time one was encountered took 3 Scorpions to down, each firing in tandem.
The only weakness of an Ultralisk is its slowness; even a Scorpion can outrun the Ultralisk.
