It hurt. A lot. But that had never stopped him before, and he had no intention of letting it stopped him now.
The massively built monster- whether it be living being, construct, golem or whatever,- was a mass of moving shards of bone with enough strength to easily overpower a normal human
for once, David found himself glad he was now classified as an abnormal human. His body altered by the Device Micronics, he was far stronger, physically, than he appeared, and by rights should be capable of, even without enhancement spells.
Unfortunately, the being assailing him was even stronger than that, it seemed, and he was being forced down as it leaned over him, driving it's bony claws downwards, forcing him into the dirt.
fortunately for David, unlike the creature now attacking him, he was fighting not only with his muscles, but also with his mind...
Joints locked, hands twisted and gripped, his body swivelled at the waist, and he threw the massive clumsy bone creature over his shoulder, overpowering it momentarily by supplementing physique with Technique, using leverage to his advantage. The being bounced a couple of times on the hard ground, showering splintered shards of bone like shrapnel where it landed, and David turned to face it once more, summoning the Bronzion Hammer to his hand from it's dormant storage state as a miniature mallet charm inset in his Prosthetic arm.
he stood and waited, trying to gauge the response of the bizarre bone being before him.
which wasn't easy to do, particularly as it had shown exactly one sign that it could communicate: a single sentence, announced at the outset of the attack, in an echoing boom that seemed as much recording or remote transmission as speech.
"Gross morphology matches primary characteristics of Target pattern: Right to exist revoked"
mere moments before sinking it's bony claws into his shoulders from behind, the talons sinking into flesh for a half inch before encountering subdermal cybermesh and shattering in a soundless explosion of splintered bone.
since then, the creature had emitted not a sound bar the cracking and creaking of it's bony frame as it moved
In Davids hand, the slowly growing hum of Bronzion Hammer's wave amplifier beat counterpoint to it.
Both parties waited a moment, re-evaluating their opponent. David felt the itch of Micronic Reconstruction, and the slow trickle of blood from his shoulders ceased as the tissues and structures were re-knit at speed. He was lucky in that any physical damage he suffered could rapidly be rebuilt.
Unfortunately, that same seem to apply to his opponent as well, as shards of bone slid over each other to cover gaps, and the frame seemed to slither creepily into a new stable form...
nevertheless, David had a plan as he sprung forward, hammer swinging...
the being's intentions were at this stage still a mystery, but it didn't matter all that much...
David opened himself to Ambient wave energy, allowed it to pour into his frame. Light, heat, sound, gravity waves, flowed into him, were collected, stored, and then released through him in new forms, sent barreling through the amplifier within the Bronzion Hammer, and then unleashed into the enemy.
Here, now, David soaked up all ambient wave energy, converted it into sound waves, and released it into the target.
He'd used this technique before at a lower intensity to render human opponents unconscious using resonant sound waves pitched to affect the human nervous system...
This time, he had a different objective in mind...
" Shatter Hammer!..."
resonant soundwaves flowed into the being's form, began to resonate within it's structure, causing it to visibly shake, but more than that to cause a progressive buildup of harmonic resonance within it's bony construction...
" Break!"
As the creature began to struggle to move as the resonance took over, it's bony body simply shattered as the bones exploded into splintered fragments, ripped apart from the inside out as it's own construction worked against it. Bone was hard, but could also be brittle, vulnerable to fracturing under the right (or from the other point of view, wrong) sort of pressure...
David stood panting, watching the fragments as they slowly dissolved into nothing. His experience with the silver skeletons had taught him not to assume even an enemy in pieces was essentially out of action, but rather than rebuild itself, the bony being's remains instead seemingly evaporated.
Leaning heavily on his hammer, tired from having used a substantial flow of his stored energy for his last attack, David thought to himself
'what the hell was that all about?'
