here.
It was revealed in The Sneaker (the novel mag that Haruhi serializes on) a few months ago that Tanigawa Nagaru (the novel's author) will be writing up an
original story for the anime. "Someday in the Rain" is the end result (in fact, if you check the credits for episode 9, you'll see Tanigawa Nagaru's name under the Script department).
