It's more that Akagi was about atmosphere and the flow of the game. It wasn't about winning or losing, it's the journey. Saki likes to jump directly to the winning and losing so far from what I've read. (Or rather, the whole magical power usage to win.)
Also, tangentially related, here is a
video of some absolutely absurd mahjong play. (It appears to be a flaw in the randomizer program or manipulated score data at times.)
