With all due respect, there's a time when a man need to act even if he knew ahead that the action is futile. Kyosuke is just doing what every man in his right mind would do, asking a model you happen to know to wear a skimpy outfit when you got a chance....
BTW, while I know you know what gravure is, pornographic is still a strong word. (not that I mind those stuff, but there are still diffrenece between gravure and porn).
The anime version of Dark Witch (that was shown) is is much less risqué than novel though, here is the illustration in the novel:

I didn't say that it's pornographic, I said it's NOT QUITE pornographic. And I think that the common portrayal of gravure does fit pretty well with the "not quite" classification. I still recall a moment in SYD where a character asked if it was OK to come "empty-handed"(tebura), and the student council president replied that she should come clothed. The response was quite simply, "No, she wasn't talking about the gravure term"(te-bura= hand-bra).
And while I agree any normal guy would jump at the chance to try and convince a model to wear something skimpy, he's still an idiot here. This isn't just a model he knows, it's a model he knows who thinks he's a pervert and a potential predator. And anyway, there's a matter of limits here. If he'd suggested she show up in something relatively revealing, she might have done it for her friend, but he asked her to wear a costume that appears to have a back that dips to the legs. I mean, the fabric covers a little of the outside of each buttock but leaves the middle completely open. I'm all for his trying to push a girl to be a little bold, but he should have tried for something actually attainable. I imagine she'd prefer going in her underwear over that.
