You're better off with EVA: ANIMA then. It uses the TV ending as a springboard, though I'm not sure many people will like the assumption that episodes 25 and 26 was actually Shinji in a COMA... It does have 16-year old Asuka (the story is set 2 years after the end of the series) and a loli Rei though.
As for the movies, with the direction they are going, no one knows what will happen really. All that
is promised is a new ending from a non-depressed Anno.
